Melbourne tango Weekend returns

Melburnians are getting right back to tango with the return of the Melbourne Tango Weekend set down for March 25-27th.

Registration opened today Monday 14th February and you can register on the website.

This is a weekend of social dancing with the amazing Melbourne Tango Orchestra on Saturday night. Located at Collingwood Town Hall, which has borne witness to dancers and dancing since it opened in 1887, the event kicks off on the Friday night. Dancing begins with a milonga on Friday night at 8pm and continues with milongas across Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings .

The venue is superb. It was built in the grand Second Empire style that can also be found in the South Melbourne and Sydney Town Halls. Collingwood was redecorated in its current art deco style in 1938 and renovated in 2014.

The Melbourne Tango Orchestra is Australia’s finest orquesta tipica. An 11-piece orchestra headed by bandoneonist Stephen Cuttriss, MTO features some of our most talented musicians. Their repertoire includes many golden tango favourites together with edgy contemporary pieces.
