When I began dancing tango in Sydney with a wonderful teacher I had no idea it would take such an important place in my life. I have a busy career as a writer and a close-knit family with three adult children, so I wasn't expecting that dancing would become so important to my sense of wellbeing.
One falls in love with the music, with the folklore and the history of tango as well as with the dance. And I am extremely fortunate that my partner, Martin, fell in love with it too. We have made some great friends and enjoyed nights of dancing to this sublime music; we have travelled with our friends to Buenos Aires and experienced the tango mecca firsthand and we continue to learn so much about it.

On the organisational side I was instrumental in setting up some of the first milongas in Sydney, together with one of Sydney's most promising teachers, and we ran these successfully for some years; I worked on setting up the information on another tango website for its first 2 years and organised the publicity and promotion of the Australian Tango Championships for the three years it was held in Sydney (2005-2007).

TangoAustralia was established as a way of learning about websites as well as a way of communicating about tango. I have been a communicator all my life, having spent 18 years as the editor of a number of consumer magazine titles and this felt like the natural next step. As I learn about the programs I am using so TangoAustralia evolves. I am always open to suggestions about what we can and should do.
