I thought I was registered but the site doesn't recognise me

If you registered before June 2008 you may have joined Angelina's Blog or the Forum. We were using three separate programs prior to this time and it was necessary to register separately for each. Now you only need one registration to use the whole site, apart from subscribing to the newsletter.

We apologise for this inconvenience but the original site was brought down by Spam and we had no choice.

How do I find information on the site?

Just use the search box in the top right. Type in anything you want to know about for example 'tango shoes', 'milonga Sydney', 'Gisela'and all the articles, postings and items relating to that subject will be listed. Then you can click on the ones you think will answer your query. 

What are the benefits of registering on the website? 

When you join the Tango Community you will be able to create a profile about yourself and what tango means to you. You will be able to

  • post to the forum
  • - and answer other posts,
  • write your very own blog,
  • comment on other people's blog entries
  • submit weblinks,
  • contact other members, c
  • onnect with friends in the tango community -
  • and maybe even find a partner, put up images,
  • enter the competitions -
  • and much more as we develop the interaction. 

How do I register? 

  • Click on Register in in the Community Login box.
  • The Registration page will come up.
  • Click on the loudspeaker symbol.
  • A voice will say 4 words. Write down the first letter of each word.
  • Type these letters into the Enter Security Code box in lower case.
  • Fill in the rest of the boxes - to code at the top of the page tells you which ones are required.
  • When you've answered all the questions you want to click Send Registration.
  • You will get an email asking you to confirm your Email address. 

How do I edit my profile? 

When you have logged in go to the Edit button and click on it. You can then choose to update your profile or your image.

How do I write in My Blog?

  • Log in.
  • A box will appear near the bottom of the right hand side called My Tango.
  • Click on My Tango Profile
  • At the bottom of the page you will see a row of tags as you would find in a filing drawer.
  • Click on My Tango Blog
  • A page will come up and at the top left you will see My Blog Dashboard - click on this.
  • Now you will see Write New Entry.
  • Click on this.
  • The page will be headed MyBlog Editor. Under that you will see Blog Title (click to edit). Click on that. Now you can type your blog entry heading.
  • Tab down and start writing your blog.
  • When you have finished click on Tags. Click any tags there that you want to use. Add any new tags you would like and tick them too. This will help people find your blog.
  • Then click Save and Close
Your Blog entry will be online - and will appear under Latest Blogs in a box
on the right hand side of the home page.

Once your blog is published you will be able to see how many people read
it - and they will be able to comment.

To add an image. Firstly make sure it is only 50kb - and 499 x 499 pixels max. Then click on Images and Document on the left hand blue shaded column - under Publish Information. Browse to your image and click Upload.

How do I tell others about my blog? 

When you have finished writing your blog entry add a couple of key words in the tags box - such as 'milonga' and 'Canaro'. Then save your entry.

How do I write on the Forum?

  • Log in
  • Click on Forum in the left hand on the left hand or top menu.
  • Go to the section where you would like to add a post.
  • Now you will see a red bar, under that a Welcome bar, under that the category and under that ''Go to Bottom. Post New Topic".
  • Click on Post New Topic.
  • Write your stuff, upload an image if you want to (but make sure the image is under 50kb) and click preview.
  • When you happy with it click Submit.

The entry won't appear until it has been approved by the Moderator. This is
because the last forum was killed by spam and we had to start all over
again.

How do I view someone else's profile?

You need to be logged in. Then if the person you want to contact is online you can click on their name, use the Community Directory of Members, or search for members.

How do I send a message to another person in the community?

You need to view the profile of the person you want to send the message to. You can do this by either clicking on their image in the forum, clicking on them when they are online or by using the Community Directory.
When you are in the person's profile got to the top menu and select Update Friends - then you send them an invitation.
Or you can uses the messages menu to send them a private message.

My connections tab is empty, what does it do?

It is empty because you need to connect with someone. First you need to find the profile of someone you would like to connect to using the Community Builder lists user menu. Then click on them to get their profile. Now you can Request Connection. Once the person accepts your request you will be connected and your Connection Tab will have copy! This works the same way in Facebook.

How do I add pictures to the Community Gallery? 

  • Save your photos in an acceptable size : width between 73 and 330px, height between 80 and 420 px, max size 119kb
  • Login
  • Go to My Tango and Click on My Tango Profile
  • Go to My Tango Photo Gallery at the bottom of the page
  • Click on Submit New Gallery Entry
  • Give your photo a title and a description
  • Browse to the photo on your computer
  • Click Submit Gallery Entry
  • Once the Moderator has approved the photo it will go online (This is a precaution against spam and unsuitable photos).
